Cluster Phobia

Growing up, Andy always had to be outdoors. Inside, he’d feel like the walls were closing in on him. He had recurring nightmares, whose details would slip away once he woke up, but which had something to do with a speeding locomotive and a large needle, operating as a threatening horizontal spire. The black and blue coloration of this sculpture gently contributes to its totemic memorialization of the phobia of, and psychic responses to, being enclosed inside as a kid.
