Mr. McGregor
Mr. McGregor comes from a place of childlike, albeit admirable, inquiries of the world: why can’t we just talk it out with our enemies? Why do we need war? The concept blossoms into a scenario from the pages of Beatrix Potter. “Was Mr. McGregor a mean old man?” Andy asks. “Or was Peter Rabbit a freeloader?” The encaged carrot prompts a reconsideration of how we think of our adversaries, and why, perhaps, a little empathy can’t just make them our friends.
